This year Waterdown’s Oh Canada Ribfest broke all previous attendance records with over 50,000 visitors! Thank you for coming out to support this community event.

All the proceeds from Oh Canada Ribfest go to charities supported by the event organizers, the Rotary Club of Flamborough AM and the Rotary Club of Waterdown. Sure, you’ve probably read or heard that before, but what exactly does it mean? It means we add up all our revenue (sponsorships, fees paid by ribbers and other vendors, generous donations at the gate, etc.) and deduct our expenses (park rental, tent rental, stage and sound system, etc.), then what’s left goes to charities. Oh Canada Ribfest is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Flamborough AM and the Rotary Club of Waterdown, with about 50 members in total. They are all members of Rotary International, a worldwide service club of people who want to make a difference, in their own communities, and around the world. When you’re at Oh Canada Ribfest, watch for the red and blue t-shirts, and ask us why we joined Rotary and, more importantly, why we’ve stayed. Ribfest is the ultimate family event. This year, we are proud to welcome back the Dream Centre as our Family Fun Zone sponsor.

Oh Canada Ribfest is organized by the Rotary Club of Flamborough AM and the Rotary Club of Waterdown. When we’re not at Ribfest, we support projects in our community and around the world. A big priority for both Clubs in the past 2 years has been the new Youth Centre in Waterdown, spearheaded by YFC. Both Clubs have supported the centre financially, plus we’ve invited YFC musicians to perform at Oh Canada Ribfest. Come out to support our talented local youth on Sunday June 28 at 2 pm, and check out the news and activities of YFC on their website.

Oh Canada Ribfest is organized by the 2 local Rotary Clubs and the Rotary Clubs of Flamborough AM and Waterdown make an effort to support our local youth. Recently, the Rotary-sponsored Interact Club at Waterdown District High School has been collecting broken and used crayons from other students, and from local restaurants. Interactors are melting the broken crayons down to make new crayons, which they will be donating to Ronald McDonald House. As well, 5 WDHS students went to the Slapshot leadership weekend in late April, thanks to Rotary. #rotaryatwork #$$4community
