Just park it

Life is good chez Jefferies on Canada Day weekend…instead of having to drive out of town for great live music, delicious food and the chance to meet up with friends, all the fun comes right to us! We really relish the opportunity to leave the car at home and walk over to Memorial Park for the afternoon or evening to see our favourite bands, check out the Marketplace and nosh on some ribs (with the bonus of being able to skip the dishes!).

I know that not everyone is so lucky – but if you have to drive to Ribfest, there are several parking options available. There is a limited number of premium spots right in the park. The cost is $10 – but you get your money’s worth as each vehicle receives $10 in vouchers donated by local businesses. Plus, all the money goes right back into the community, through Rotary projects.

For those who don’t mind walking a block or two, there is ample free parking on most of the side streets near Memorial Park – just be sure to obey all posted regulations and please be respectful of local businesses and residents.

One word of advice: don’t park at the Fortinos plaza. It’s tempting, but festival parking is prohibited to allow stores to operate as usual – and the lot is monitored. You’ve been warned.
