Have fun and give back to the community

June 23, 2019

From the opening on Friday afternoon until closing time on Monday, Waterdown's Oh Canada Ribfest is jam-packed with food, activities and entertainment. It is also a chance to reconnect with neighbours and friends and kick off summer in style. Admission to the park is free and, with the exception of a few featured events, all the fun, music and fireworks are free.

But Ribfest is also an opportunity to give back. That's why Rotarians greet every visitor with a request for a donation. Contributions from our guests make up almost 20 per cent of the money we raise at Ribfest, with the rest coming from vendor booth rentals, sponsorships and beverage sales. In addition to ensuring we can continue to plan community events like Ribfest and support international initiatives like Polio Plus, your donations make Waterdown a better place to live. It's that simple.

Some examples of the local projects we support include:

• The Waterdown Rotary Memorial Park Skating Loop

• The Waterdown Youth Centre

• Flamborough YMCA

• Food4Kids

• Rotary Garden Court

•Youth Exchange and Leadership programs

• Habitat for Humanity Waterdown build

So when you see a Rotarian (we're easy to spot in our blue or yellow shirts) - stop and say hi. And know that if you make a donation, you don't have to look very far to see the difference you are making.

See you at Ribfest!
