Ever wonder what it's like to volunteer at Ribfest?

Waterdown's best summer party is coming up later this month -- and it's only possible because of massive support from the community. Not just our sponsors (whom we love), but also the hundreds of folks who sign up for shifts in the the park all weekend long.
So, who are these people that enjoy hard work for no pay?
Some are teens looking for school credit, some are retirees. Some are Rotarians, some have never volunteered before. Whole families sign up, and local businesses use it as a fun team-building event for their staff. But they all have one thing in common: they earn a deep sense of satisfaction from knowing they are making a big difference in the lives of others.
All money raised through Oh Canada Ribfest funds projects and organizations like Food 4 Kids Hamilton, student literacy awards, mental health programming through Eagles Nest, Flamborough Food Bank and Food With Grace, Flamborough Santa Claus Parade; Margaret's Place; Flamborough Women's Resource Centre; Rotary Garden Court Seniors Residence; Rotary Youth Exchange, Migrants Matter Flamborough....the list goes on. And it all happens because of the small army of helpers who give their time, muscle and talents to make Ribfest happen each year.
I'm not gonna lie: from the glamorous task of sorting recycling to serving beverages in the beer tents, it's all hard work. And it's often hot, and crowded. But it's also a lot of fun: where else can you dance to a great band, meet up with friends you haven't seen in ages, and help out a great cause all at the same time?
I'm happy to report that about 75 per cent of this year's shifts have been filled - but if you've ever wondered what it's like to be a part of the best summer party in town, we still need general volunteers, security help and those sexy recycling tent duties. Just head on over to our sign-up page for a list of what's available.
And I'll see you at the park June 27-30!
