Some people come to Ribfest for, well, the ribs. Others come for the delicious festival food - blooming onion or perogies, anyone? Me, I love the music.
It’s no stretch to say that the pandemic was tough on local artists – with no way to perform live, they were kind of in a holding pattern over the past two and a half years. So we were beyond excited to hear from so many of our past favourites who are ready to play again this year.
The talented Karen Thornton kicks off the festival at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1. Once again, we have the 905 Band the headliners on Friday night, and Freedom Train, who are slated to take the stage on Saturday night. Waterdown’s own Ty Baynton will be closing out the festival on Sunday, starting at 6:30 p.m. In between, the park will be rocking to the sound of bands such as IN2U, Tattoos ‘n Whiskey, Dark Horse, Laurel & Hulley, Killin’ Time, to name a few.
As always, we owe huge thanks to the businesses who sponsor the entertainment – this year, it’s M & M Products and Imperial – this allows us to support local bands and keep the music playing.
Check out the full entertainment schedule here.
See you at the park!

I remember going to Ribfest back in 2019, dancing in the grass with BBQ sauce on my hands and not a care in the world. This year feels like that energy is finally back. Just like the return of live music wakes something up in you, I’ve found that a body brushing massage has a similar effect. I started using it during the lockdowns it was my way of staying energized and grounded. That daily 5-minute ritual brought circulation and life back to my skin, the same way live bands bring life back to the crowd.
I remember going to Ribfest back in 2019—great food, even better music. Reading this brings back those summer vibes! I’ve always been more into the live bands than the ribs (though the blooming onion is a close second!). With things finally opening up again, I’m planning to go this year without worrying about school already asked someone to do my online class for me so I can actually enjoy the weekend stress-free.
