May the Bubble Force be with you!
Hey friends! We’re excited to have Bubble Force back again this year to bring those bubble soccer suits for ages 6+. They will have youth, teen, and adult bubbles on standby to ensure all attendees can have a taste of their fun attraction! If you don’t want to play that’s okay too. Watching participants roll, bump, and bounce in the bubbles is great entertainment while you’re enjoying some of the best ribs! Bubble Force coordinates indoor & outdoor private events for birthday

Ribfest wants YOU
I have been a huge fan of Waterdown's Oh Canada Ribfest since it launched in Memorial Park some 9 years ago. I have enjoyed the bands, the food and the fireworks, and I even recall taking part in a huge group singalong of BTO's Takin' Care of Business on the ball diamond. Invariably, I run into neighbours and friends and have a great time catching up with people I rarely see at any other time. This Canada Day, weekend, I will get to experience Ribfest (which kicks off in just

A thirst for fun
Sampling ribs is thirsty work. Throw in the summer sun and typically high Canada Day weekend temperatures, and I'm soon looking for something to wet my whistle during all the festivities. Luckily, there is no shortage of great beverages on offer right in the park. I am not typically a beer drinker, but I know that aficionados of the hops-based quaff are pleased that Molson-Coors has signed on as the beverage provider for Waterdown's Oh Canada Ribfest this year. With that, we

Rotary around the world
What is Rotary, anyway? For me, Rotary International is less about the numbers, and more about the stories and the causes. As a Rotarian, I’m a member of an international service club which encourages members to use their time and skills to make things better. We can provide hands-on assistance or organize fundraisers. All Clubs are encouraged to develop and support projects which promote education, particularly literacy education. Communities and countries are strengthened w

Where do Ribfest donations go?
Every Canada Day weekend, the community answers the call for donations to Rotary during Ribfest. So, what does the Rotary Club of Waterdown do, and where do those donations go? Our Club, along with the Rotary Club of Flamborough AM, has been bringing Oh Canada Ribfest to Waterdown since 2010. For us, Ribfest is both a fundraiser and a community project. We love seeing local residents get together on the Canada Day weekend with their family, friends and neighbours and we work

Dreaming of family fun
Once again, The Dream Centre is sponsoring the Family Fun Zone Saturday through Monday during Waterdown's Oh Canada Ribfest - and we are thrilled to have them back! Families won't want to miss the exciting program that will include some new activities, along with some returning favourites. The folks from the Telling Tales Literacy Festival will be presenting multiple authors and children's entertainers each day during Ribfest, and there will be plenty of Canada Day crafts, co

Just park it
Life is good chez Jefferies on Canada Day weekend…instead of having to drive out of town for great live music, delicious food and the chance to meet up with friends, all the fun comes right to us! We really relish the opportunity to leave the car at home and walk over to Memorial Park for the afternoon or evening to see our favourite bands, check out the Marketplace and nosh on some ribs (with the bonus of being able to skip the dishes!). I know that not everyone is so lucky

Sorry Penny, no dogs allowed
I love dogs. I love Ribfest. Alas, the two don’t go together. Waterdown’s Oh Canada Ribfest operates under the same regulations as a restaurant – which means to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone throughout the weekend, dogs are not allowed in the section of Memorial Park reserved for the festival. The same goes for bikes – so while you may want to pedal off some of those Ribfest calories, you’ll have to wait until you get home. Of course, if Rover is a good boy, a R

More to life than ribs
Ribs get top billing at Waterdown’s Oh Canada Ribfest, naturally. But what is a community festival without blooming onions, ice cream and pizza? Well, Ribfest has it all – so bring your appetites! The Rotary club’s Ribfest planning committee has put together a food lineup that caters to every craving. Roasted corn on the cob? Check. Chicken and chips? Check. Bloomin' Onions? Yep. And then there are the sweet treats…I’ll need room for a funnel cake or beaver tail - decisions,

So many ribs to choose from...
Canada Day weekend in Waterdown means Ribfest! And with just a little over two weeks to go until the annual Rotary event kicks off in Memorial Park, my thoughts are already turning to which mouth-watering delights I will enjoy this year. While my personal preference is a rich, smoky sauce combined with fall-off-the-bone tender pork, some of my fellow rib aficionados go for something with a more robust texture, dressed in a tangy sauce. Still others take a break from pork and
