Parking etiquette at Ribfest
I am one of the lucky ones who live within reasonable walking distance of Memorial Park, which means I usually leave my car at home during Ribfest - and I know many local residents who also do the same. The benefits include fewer cars on the street, no waiting for traffic lines to clear out at the end of the night, and being able to visit the beer tent. However, for most visitors this weekend, leaving their automobile at home is not an option. So, here are some handy tips fo

Trash talking
It really is a messy job...but every year a dedicated team of Rotarians and community volunteers work all weekend long during Ribfest to ensure as much waste material as possible is kept from heading to the landfill. This means endless hours of sorting and bagging the various items discarded by Ribfest - cutlery, plates, napkins...you name it - to ensure all the waste goes to the right place. Make the most of your Ribfest visit
Every year, I make a Ribfest checklist: which ribbers I want to try, which bands I want to see, where I want to sit to watch the fireworks - you get the idea. Have fun and give back to the community
From the opening on Friday afternoon until closing time on Monday, Waterdown's Oh Canada Ribfest is jam-packed with food, activities and entertainment. Admission to the park is free and, with the exception of a few featured events, all the fun, music and fireworks are free. But Ribfest is also an opportunity to give back. That's why Rotarians greet every visitor with a request for a don

Old favourites and new additions
One of the positive things about organizing a long-running event is being able to build on success. And now in our 10th year, Waterdown's Oh Canada Ribfest is bringing back some tried and true favourites, along with some exciting new activities local families are sure to enjoy. The Family Fun Zone will be running Saturday through Monday - but this year it will be expanded and located at the west end of the park. New activities this year include a kids' obstacle course and a M

Sponsors help Ribfest provide fun for local families
You might think Ribfest makes a lot of money off, well, the ribs. And while they are the big draw for Canada Day weekend (and delicious!), that's not the case. The oil that keeps this community celebration going comes from the beer tent, vendor table rentals, donations and our sponsors. To pull off an event the size of Ribfest - which welcomes tens of thousands of guests to Memorial Park over its four-day run - we are fortunate that a handful of major sponsors and a dozens o
